An Exclusive Philanthropic Weekend for Walt Disney Birthplace…Celebrating Creativity & Imagination with Tania McKnight Norris, Bob Gurr, Matt McKim, Floyd Norman & More…
Los Angeles, CA – July 11, 2025 – The power of a dream is undeniable, and nowhere was that truer than in the homes where Walt Disney imagined, created, and built his extraordinary legacy. From his birthplace in Chicago, where the first spark of inspiration was lit, to his private storybook home in Los Feliz, where his dreams took shape, these places stand as testaments to the magic of imagination.
For one unforgettable weekend, guests will step inside the very home where Walt Disney’s dreams came to life. “Building A Dream” is a rare opportunity to explore Walt Disney’s private storybook estate on Woking Way in Los Feliz, the home he built in 1932 and lived in until 1950. This exclusive event benefits The Walt Disney Birthplace & CECCI – The Center for Early Childhood Creativity and Innovation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit restoring the modest Chicago home where Walt was born.
An Unforgettable Experience – Attendees will have the opportunity to step into the world of Walt Disney through any of three carefully curated events:
- Dinner at Walt Disney’s Storybook Home: Begin the evening with signature cocktails and a private tour of Walt’s home. Then, enjoy a beautifully curated dinner where each course shares part of Walt’s story…his life, travels, and imagination…. followed by dessert under the stars on the garden patio. The event wouldn’t be complete without a few magical guests and items never before seen in public.
- A Spot of Imagination – Afternoon Tea: A refined afternoon gathering in the estate’s garden, featuring live entertainment, exclusive talks by Disney luminaries, and a selection of teas and treats inspired by Walt’s favorites followed by a VIP tour of the home.
- Sunset on Woking Way – The pinnacle of the weekend: an elegant evening of storytelling, history, and curated conversations with Disney Legends and Imagineers. Guests will enjoy private tours, a silent auction, and cocktails at sunset overlooking the Los Angeles skyline. Plus, a special commemorative gift.
“We are thrilled and honored to be bringing guests into another remarkable home that also helps tell the story of Walt’s amazing life and creative legacy,” said Dina Benadon, co-founder of The Walt Disney Birthplace. “And we are so grateful that this event will support our arts education advocacy through CECCI to encourage young people to follow their own creative dreams.”
Dusty Sage, the Woking Way estate steward adds, “Stepping inside Woking Way feels like stepping into the mind of a creative genius. And for one special weekend, guests will get to be part of that magic while contributing to something even bigger…the next generation of storytellers and visionaries.”
